OutCross Program

Our Outcross Program

Some of you may wonder why some breeders have an outcross program. For those of us that do believe that we are helping the Sphynx breed. It takes a great deal of time and effort to have an outcross program.

The breed started out from a single genetic mutation. Genetic diversity is very important and an outcross program does just that. An Outcross program increases the gene pool and provides different blood lines to work with. This practice adds hybrid vigor to the breed and it may help improve the immune system and improve bone density as well.

Domestic Short Hair and the American Short Hair are allowable breeds to be used in the Outcross program. A domestic by definition is an unrecognized breed by either CFA or TICA. An outcross program takes time and multiple generations to develop hairless kittens for the show ring. We personally are dedicated to this breed and the money and time plus the extra space are all well worth what we feel the benefit will be to the breed.

We will be offering time to time kittens from our outcross program. We will be picking only the best to continue on with the outcross program. They are a wonderful companion for you and your family and most will have the classic sphynx traits that endear so many to this breed even though they are not naked.

The outcross off spring will also be placed time to time with other catteries that are wanting to add to their existing Sphynx programs and also to pet homes  We are located in Idaho.
